Keiko Mecheri founded her company in 1997 with her partner. The couple were working together in the high-tech and graphic design business when they decided to play havoc with their lives and enter the niche fragrance world, initially with artistic scented candles and home fragrances. They set up their studio on the Sunset Boulevard, across the street from the storied Roxy theater and Rainbow Room.

In many ways, the similarities between Grasse and California bond the two worlds of Keiko Mecheri- Both share year-round mild, sunny climates, the natural surroundings of the South of France and L.A conjure a similar imagery, as do the inebriating “odors” of the sun-kissed citrus trees, spilling jasmine, and the wild beauty of desert blooming flowers and shamanic herbs. Last but not least, both the South of France and California served as the epicenter of Boho chic, fervently kindling the spirit of pioneers and unconventional thinkers.

Today as the demand for independent perfumes continues to gain steam, true connoisseurs appreciate the luxurious yet understate character of her fragrances and her ability to surprise, to reinterpret vintage elements in a contemporary manner.

Part artist, part entrepreneur, Keiko Mecheri is multi-cultural woman who was born in Japan, raised in California and studied art in Europe. While some of her scents are subtly evocative of the Orient and of her native Japanese Riviera, it is Keiko Mecheri’s love for Los Angeles and California with its sun-kissed climate, buzzing scene, laid-black lifestyle, diversity and lush surroundings, that really kindles her inspirations and aspirations. This unique landscape, as diverse as frost from fire, is Mecheri’s own olfactory road, a narrative that embraces the sweeping beaches, the raw-edged beauty Malibu, Beverly Hills, the Sunset Strip and the iconic Laurel Canyon, a mountainous neighborhood nestled in the Hollywood Hills region.
